Alright, I know 3 isn't a very cool number, but this is history man!

In 7 years time (if we're not all dead by 2012 ahahaha!) we'll look back at this and think...

"Wow, seven years later and I still use the internet to laugh at emo blogs, I feel accomplished!".

Now I'm going to go through our history, if you have the time and want to learn a little more, then read read read! If not...

TL;DR Version: EE IS OLD BRO. PEOPLE HATED US. DRAMA ENSUED. RAPS WERE MADE. BADGERBADGERBADGERBADGER.

Starting Days

Nov 27th '06 - Was the day I started EE! It was a small forum with only a small amount of members. Our logo was drawn by Lozzy (who fucking kicks ass at drawing tbh) and the site itself was much darker than the EE you see these days. I had a few problems setting up the website, and I ended up being the 3rd registered member (I made 2 accounts and forgot the passwords v.v) and after I'd bottled enough courage I told Laura I had made a site for DA EMOZ. She was like "Oh that's cool." and was our 98th member! Hurray! A cute little fact, even on this new site I'm the 3rd registered member (genuine mistake, again) and Lozzy is the 98th! I think that's neat u.u

January 30th '07 - Me and the wife (I say that, but really Laura wasn't even aware of my plans...it just sounded more cosey to type) made a social network! It was quite well liked but many of our forum users were too busy being stubborn cun...arseholes and said they prefered the forum and wanted to stay there.

February 1st '07 -- They changed their mind.

February 7th '07 -- I think at this point I really forgot about the forum. The problem with me - as you're probably all well aware of - is that I can only really focus on one thing at a time. It was my first time with a social network and it was pretty cool to fiddle around with settings, ban people and ultimately annoy the regulars. (It still is :D)

Lance and THE WAR (also the song/rap)

I really miss Lance! I even sent him an email telling him how much I love him. For those who don't know who I am talking about...

LANCE KNUCKLEOZONNEZ (I think that was his surname...) was a boy like me, I say was, he isn't dead or anything...! Anyway, He made a website called Wutscene. This website was pretty much a carbon copy of my website *angry face*. At the time I was kinda pissed off, and so was he - but it was silly because we both bought the same script in the end, so of course they'd look the same!

Not long after Lance showed up, the drifters (what me and Lozzy refer to as 'The Fickle Ones') left EE for WutScene - which started epic drama!

I know what you''re thinking! Drama? What drama? - And you're not even thinking that at all, so shut up! :(

Emo Earth has never been terribly popular with other sites. I can name about 10 websites that hate me for reasons I don't know - I don't even talk to them! I like to consider myself a friendly, well-spoken, happy individual with nothing but love for the world and my members.

I may never reply to comments, messages, emails and friend requests - but the reason I yell at you all and loathe you is because I love you all so much.

Halfway through this WS vs EE 116 year war, Lance wrote me a rap! It included some very well thought out lyrics. I think one line was something like "Why don't you get Alex to buttfuck you Benji' and If you think that is mindblowing (and please hold yourself back from rushing to the stores) then you haven't heard his second rap which was almost the same but with accusations that I was an insane paedophile. That's only half true v.v

In response to his rap, I made a video pretending I was Hitler

Wutscene then died, everyone came back, we all made a sexy time and loved each other again.

EE's minor fall and the major lift.

Two years later and unfortunately the site got hacked quite severely. We lost all our member data and I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel.

Infact I pretty much did for 6-7 months. I think it was actually a really worthwhile break and regular members will probably agree they needed it, as did I.

And look at us now! I found an old backup and decided to bring us all back together! Shiny happy people!

Some new things,

 

New FAQ and Terms of Service

We're in the process of making the site more professional (...) and therefore we're in the process of writing up a Terms of Service which you must agree to! Also check out our FAQ for common questions like "How do I add HTML to my profile" and "I'm a worried parent, is this site safe for my child" :)

New Chat Moderators

We need three new chat moderators (Preferably one British and two American) as the site is growing in popularity rapidly recently.

You must:

• Have good grammar and not type like a faggot
• Be a chat regular, and know the rules.

If you meet these requirements then you can request a place by replying to this blog.

We'll have our usual 'Moderator Vote' in a few days and assign the new staff.

 

Group Invites + Alerts

They will now be removed from your alerts every day at 12am GMT.

You can still see all your group invites on your personal 'Group' dashboard (http://www.emoearth.com/user_group.php)

We'll also be limiting the 'Mass invite your friends' feature to only be used once every week.

Also, if you're getting alerts that aren't justified, please contact me. (This could be that it's telling you that you have a message when you don't.)

 

Polls Return

Polls are back, now totally optimized so they don't slow the site down like a beast. You can't explore browse polls yet, but I'll add that function ASAP

 

Forums

The forums should now be functional again, I somehow managed to mess the database up and create 66 identical forums which caused the site to go mental.

 

Points + Premium

The points system has been implemented again, obviously, and the shop will be open as soon as we work out a good amount to charge (people are getting points way too easily).

You'll be able to buy premium features (buying stuff doesn't deduct from your overall point value so your rank will not suffer)

Photo Uploads

Some people were complaining they couldn't upload a display photo, if this is your issue, then please contact me and I'll fix it immediately, it's a simple permission error.

 

 

 

 

Phone Numbers

Anyone found giving out phone numbers on this site, either via messages, comments or in chat, will have their account immediately closed, without warning.
Do not try to trick us by putting spaces between the numbers or any other way of disguise, we scan them regularly and we will find out.

Fakes

Uploading a picture that isn't you is not a joke, or something that doesn't cause damage, it's extremely serious and it will not be tolerated on this website.
Once your account has been flagged as being a fake account, you will have 48 hours to either delete the pictures, or upload real pictures.
Your account will be limited during this time, and if you fail to do the above, we will do it for you, and prevent you from ever being able to upload pictures again.

Note: Previous users with a warning on their page are included in this, and the 48 hours begins as of the time this blog is published.

Chat Room

Chat room bans are now increased to 24 hours for the first offence, 48 hours for the second,  and 72 hours for each offence after.
Admins (me and Lozzy) are still the only staff who can permenantly ban users from the rooms.
Chat moderators are now being monitored, and unfair bans, favourtism and downright assholism, will not be tolerated.
The bannable offences are listed below, and will be updated on the chatagree.php page shortly.

• Racism
• Abuse towards staff.
• Continued abuse to members after first being warned.
• Spam
• Self Advertising - Internal (EmoEarth profile links) are allowed.

What doesn't constitute as a ban:

• Not changing a colour
• Personal dislike
• Not moving to another room

Confessions

Your IP is logged when you submit a confession, and we will link it to an account if you abuse the confession section.
The comments should be beneficial and not plain insulting, confessions may not be used to advertise.

 

So there you have it, I know it sounds like I'm being an overly formal bastard, but things are getting out of hand.

Well I'm not a happy bunny! I've just typed this once and my stupid computer decided to reboot :)

Basically, I've spent the morning fixing annoying bugs here and there.

Bugs Fixed

• Invisible Users is now working, previously it didn't do it's job, at all.
• Picture uploader is now working fine!
• Music uploader is also working!
• Slow Album loading times have been fixed.

Additions

• Confession Board
  
• You can now create band profiles, either your own, or simply create a fan page!
  
• Friend Bar! Open it by clicking the little box (bottom right of screen)
• Polls
• "My URL" added to your 'What's New' page!
• "Who I Commented" now availiable on all profiles!
• Music player added to all profiles.

And, er, yeah! I think that's pretty much it!

Right so here it is :)

Now, I knew it would get it mixed response, some like it, some don't like it, but let me explain what's going on.

Most of you dislike it simply because it's vastly different, and you simply dislike change, that's fine and hopefully you'll adapt.

Some of you dislike the profiles, that's fine too, we'll be adding an option to use the old style profile soon too!

But to the people who like it, thanks!  It's faster, better looking, you now get all your alerts (blogs/albums/groups) etc, html in comments, easier to see new blogs, new music in the header bar etc.

I know their are still a few bugs here and there, it's understandable considering this size of this website, but all I'm asking is you bear with it for a few more days and hopefully it'll grow on you :)

Things I know about:

• Flash Uploader doesn't work in I.E - For both music and albums
• Profile Layouts are gone - If you really need your old layout, send me a message.
• The logo needs to change, jajaja.

Oh boy, have I got news!

Me and Laura have been working on this silently for a while but here it is :)

EE is going to change big time, and I mean, for the better, of course!
I'm not giving too much away now, I'll be creating a short video, either tomorrow or the day after, explaining it in more detail, but a few basics:

• Tabbed profiles - No more cluttered profiles.
• VIDEOS! Upload your videos, comment on others and rate them!
  
• Art Studio - Contests for prizes and such.
• Improved Confessions! We all love them after all.
• Browse music, albums and blogs, everything is now free to view, meaning more interactivity.
• ACCEPT ALL FRIEND REQUESTS! Hurrah! Best improvement ever, amirite?
  
• Points - Points are back, you can use them to get special features and to promote yourself (will be explained in more depth later).
• Musician Profiles! Finally they arrive, promote your band, another band, or whatever!
  
• Enhanced Albums/Groups/Blogs/Polls/Music - Trust me, you will love it.
• Blog/Album comment alerts, in REAL time, meaning you'll be alerted on the site as soon as it happens.
• Create your own categories, your blogs are now YOUR own creation, categorize them how you like, change the themes etc.
  
• Gifts! You will be able to send gifts to one another, including hearts, guitars, jet boats...
• Instant Messages -Use Facebook? You'll know about the bottom bar that alerts you when friends come online? We have that now!
• Birthday alerts! See when your friends have an upcoming birthday!
• HTML in comments! Finally you can use Bold/Italic/Images/Links in comments, everywhere!
• User Networks - Your town will have it's very own network! Oh how lovely.

And of the top of my head, that's all I can think of!

How long will this take I hear you cry? Not long at all! In fact, I hope to have the new site, up and running by next week!
It's going to take so much work, and I have actually hired people to help me move everything.
Nothing will be lost, all your photos,comments,blogs etc will all be fine.
The site WILL be down for 24 hours, I know it sucks but nothing can be done about it.

We will be selecting 20-30 people to beta test the new site before we begin major transferring, so if you're interested, leave a comment below.
The moderators/admins of EE will automatically be sent a link to the new site shortly.
